SI-C O12-A Antrodoco-Rifugio CAI Sebastiani. From the historic center of Antrodoco, follow Via Roma eastward until you exit the town, briefly traveling along the S.S Salaria n.4. After crossing the railway, turn left shortly after and begin climbing on dirt roads towards Micignano. This stage is certainly challenging due to the significant elevation gain, but the route is always very scenic as you ascend from the valley floor to the foothills of Monte Terminillo (2217 m above sea level), a mountain massif in central Italy that is part of the Apennine mountain group known as Monti Reatini. After a short challenging stretch, you reach the small village of Micigliano, perched at nearly a thousand meters high along the slopes of Monte Elefante, on the eastern side of the Monti Reatini massif. The ascent continues on dirt paths that wind with tight hairpin turns on the eastern side of Monte Elefante. As you climb, the views increasingly open up, revealing the Valle del Velino to the south and Monte Giano to the east, where the giant inscription DUX, created nearly eighty years ago during the fascist regime, can be seen on the western slope. At the end of the exhausting ascent, after crossing the ridge descending from Monte Pratorecchia, the imposing southern face of Monte Terminillo comes into view, where at its base the Rifugio CAI Sebastiani can be glimpsed, a designated stop for a well-deserved rest.
