From the refuge, ascend along trail 201A to quickly reach the Dordona Pass (2061m). Continue along the dirt road that descends towards Foppolo, but after a short distance, leave it to take trail 203, which with a fairly flat route leads to the Trote Lake (2124m) and the ski resort of Montebello. Now descending, proceed to reach the Passo della Croce (1953m). At the pass, follow trail 208 that will take you to the Fratelli Calvi Refuge. Continue around the upper part of the Carisole basin on a wide path. After passing the last ski lifts, the trail briefly climbs to the ridge (about 2110m) that overlooks the Brembo River valley. Descending, you soon enter the Val Sambuzza, and after crossing the stream (about 1850m), you meet the trail that leads to the Casera di Val Sambuzza (1738m). Heading east, you stay at altitude and follow the forest road that reaches the basin of Lago del Prato. Continue along trail 208 on the forest road that ascends to Baita Armentarga (1770m). Cross the Brembo River and climb more decisively through the woods until you reach Baita Costa della Mersa (1886m), then proceed east to reach Lago Rotondo and the Calvi Refuge (2006m). This stage faithfully follows the Sentiero delle Orobie occidentali.
