Hiking
This short stage with a moderate elevation gain takes you from Val Maira to Val Varaita. Starting from the village of Elva, you climb through wide pastures and meadows towards the watershed with Val Varaita. Following the path known as the 'Strada dei Cannoni', you reach the 2280 meters of Colle Terziere and the nearby Colle Bicocca. From this point, a long and steep descent begins, leading the Sentiero Italia into the Vallone di Bellino, ending at the hamlet of Chiesa in the municipality of Bellino. This area is home to ancient settlements dating back to the pre-Roman populations of the Celto-Liguri, as also noted by Pliny the Elder in his Naturalis Historia.
