SI E11

This is a medium-length stage with a significant positive elevation gain and a moderate negative one, leading from the mountains of the Alta Valle Gesso into the nearby Valle Stura. Starting from the Terme di Valdieri, you follow the closed road that leads to the enchanting Piano del Valasco, where the Casa di Caccia of Vittorio Emanuele II stands, now restored and adapted into a refuge. The route continues to the upper Piano del Valasco, and using an ancient military road, which is partially damaged, you ascend to the lower lake of Valscura, where some buildings and military fortifications in disrepair can be seen. The climb continues along a trail until reaching the Colletto di Valscura at an altitude of 2520 meters. From here, a steep descent leads to Lago Malinvern and then to the Rifugio Malinvern Città di Ceva, where overnight accommodations are available.
