From the Contrin Refuge (2016 m), the descent follows the access road through the Val de Contrin, a long green plain nestled between the walls of Gran Vernel and Colac. After passing the Baita Locia Contrin, there's a steep step that leads to the village of Penìa (1493 m), the last in the Val di Fassa. Here, the path 605 is taken, which runs alongside the Avisio River ascending towards the head of the valley, dominated by the impressive north face of Gran Vernel. Upon reaching the basin of Pian Trevisan, where the Villetta Maria hotel (1691 m) is located, the route continues on a mule track that crosses the rocky gorge beneath Col Mer. Along the way, one encounters the stations of a moving Via Crucis painted by the artist Alberto Detomas, ending at the “Crist de Fedaa” (approximately 1780 m). After passing the gorge, the path becomes less steep and, near the Capanna Col de Ciampié, it crosses a pasture and climbs the wooded slope at the base of the Fedaia Dam. Finally, with a few turns, the Albergo Rifugio Ettore Castiglioni at Fedaia (2055 m) is reached.
