The penultimate stage in Aosta Valley crosses from the Val d'Ayas to the Gressoney Valley along a medium-length route with a considerable elevation gain. From Crest, you descend to the village of Frantze, where the ascent alongside the Cuneaz stream begins. You pass through the homonymous district and continue eastward, crossing several alpine pastures until reaching Col Pinter at 2777 meters. The long descent into the opposite valley follows, traversing high-altitude pastures until you enter the forest where several villages are located. After passing the village of Alpenzù Grande, you reach the state road, which you follow for a short downhill stretch before taking a pathway that leads to Gressoney Saint Jean.
