A rather long stage but characterized by a slight elevation gain that takes a brief variant of the Sentiero Italia, moving away from the Apennine ridgeline to venture into the heights separating the valleys formed by the Tiber and Arno rivers. From Passo di Viamaggio, the route continues to Camerelle where it forks; the southern variant skirts around the summit of Montalto before descending its slopes to the village of Pieve Santo Stefano in the Tiber Valley. After crossing the town, the path heads towards Poggio di Garavone at an elevation of 709 meters, then descends along the opposite side until it intersects with Provincial Road 47. The ascent resumes through the summits of Poggio Scopetone and Poggio Calbetino, from which the descent continues to Caprese Michelangelo, the birthplace of Michelangelo Buonarroti.
