Hiking
From Castelnuovo Garfagnana, take the GT1 trail heading south. As you climb, you will pass the villages of Sassi, San Rocco, and Eglio. Walking along the slope beneath Grottorotondo, you will reach a junction: here, take trail number 133 towards the southwest, which will lead you to Alpe di Sant'Antonio. From here, continue on trail number 133, pass Pasquigliora, and at Colle Panestra, keeping to the left, you will intersect trail number 138 but continue left on trail number 7/127 until you reach the Votive Chapel of the Fallen Partisans. Keep following trail number 7/127 until you reach a fork, then turn right onto trail number 127, which will take you along the slope of Pania della Croce on the side of Pizzo delle Saette. Continue left on trail number 9 until you arrive at the C.A.I. Del Freo Refuge (1,180 m).
