With this medium-length stage and elevation gain, the Sentiero Italia leaves the Turano Lake to approach the other large artificial basin in the area: Lake Salto. From Paganico Sabino, the trail briefly runs along the lake before heading east into the valley at the base of Colle Mogaro. The route climbs to over 1100 meters at the pass between Monte Filone and Monte Navegna, where the descent to Varco Sabino begins.
