La Miando - Ristoro e Pernottamento

N/A
The agritourism company La Miando (an Occitan word that means "cabin" in Italian) has been a family-run agritourism since 1989, located in Val Germanasca (one of the two Waldensian valleys in Italy), at 1215 meters above sea level. It is situated in the heart of the main hamlet of Salza di Pinerolo, one of the smallest municipalities in Italy. The environment is pristine, surrounded by enchanting forests of fir and larch in the Olympic mountain range. This ancient family home has been renovated while respecting the typical features of mountain houses (it is still heated with a wood stove) and offers two dining rooms and a vaulted hall converted from the old stable to host larger groups. The rooms are simple, tidy, and welcoming, located in an adjacent building about a hundred meters away. They are all equipped with a double bed, a bunk bed, and attached amenities. The agritourism also manages a stopover on the GTA (Great Alpine Crossing), a hiking refuge with 12 beds in a single dormitory with facilities. The cuisine reflects the seasonality of the farm's production, with a particular focus on potatoes, vegetables, and fruits. Sheep and lambs are raised from which fresh and aged cheeses are made, paired with the jams produced by the farm. The dishes are linked to the territory and respect Occitan traditions, such as souppo (Waldensian soup) or calietthe (large potato dumplings filled). In winter, the agritourism organizes and rents snowshoes for walks in the nearby forest. Nearby, mountain bikes can also be rented, and there is a partnered riding school. La Miando is recognized as an educational farm by the Piedmont Region, welcoming school groups and offering various activities, with opportunities for visitors to participate in farm work. A shuttle service is available for overnight guests. The landscape features ancient paths and new trails leading to high altitudes, revealing a truly enchanting landscape of flora and fauna. There are several historical museums and museums of peasant traditions, including Scopriminiera, a unique experience on a train inside the largest talc mine in Europe. In winter, cross-country and downhill skiing can be enjoyed on the slopes of Prali, just a few minutes away, or one can venture 30 km to the Via Lattea ski area. In Salza, there is also an ice skating rink and a snowshoeing route through the forest. There are options to rent E-bikes (electric bicycles), allowing one to enjoy wonderful landscapes and exciting emotions in nature, accompanied by experienced guides, even at night!
