Rifugio Cesare Benigni

N/A
The CAI Cesare Benigni Hut (2222 m a.s.l.) is located in Ornica (BG). The structure was built in memory of Cesare Benigni, a passionate mountaineer who dedicated his life to the mountains. The hut was inaugurated in the summer of 1984 by the then sub-section of the C.A.I. of Alta Val Brembana (now a section and owner) and was made possible thanks to the contribution of the Benigni family, deeply affected by the tragic loss of their loved one. The Cesare Benigni Hut is set within the Orobie Alps Park, in a panoramic spot, close to Lake Piazzotti (2,224 m). It serves as a stop on trail 101 (Orobie Occidentali), which connects the area of Pizzo dei Tre Signori to Ca' San Marco. The structure is at the beginning of a small plateau that extends from the nearby Lake Piazzotti between the Val Salmurano and Val Tronella, right on the border of the provinces of Bergamo and Sondrio. Among rocks, meadows, water mirrors, and ibex, one can enjoy a magnificent view. The panorama stretches from the peaks of the Masino-Bregaglia group to Disgrazia, over Valmalenco, encompassing all the Bergamasque Orobie and reaching the plain. The hut offers 20 beds.
