Rifugio Fontanelle

The Le Fontanelle refuge is located in the Casentino Forests, Monte Falterona, and Campigna National Park, right at the foot of the highest peak, Falterona, which serves as the nearest starting point for the ascent. It is a small structure previously used by forestry workers, nestled in a beautiful beech forest, the typical environment that gives the park its name. It offers simple, yet dignified, accommodation in small dormitories. The association managing it is particularly focused on maintaining strong ties with the local area, especially when it comes to meal preparation, which is almost entirely based on organic products and as much local produce as possible. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and given the limited space (12 spots in two small dormitories with bunk beds), there will be no overnight accommodation in the refuge during the current year 2022. However, permission has been granted by the park to set up up to six tents in the surrounding area, using the facilities of the refuge. It is open continuously from June 15 to the first week of September. In the thirty days before and after these dates, it is only open on weekends.
