The Giuseppe Garibaldi Refuge is located in the Gran Sasso d'Italia massif, in the municipality of Pietracamala. The structure was built in 1886 and holds the title of the oldest mountain refuge in Italy. The Garibaldi Refuge is open for overnight stays only during the months of July and August on Saturdays and Sundays. When the refuge is operational, the always-open area is available for the caretaker. For groups of at least 8 people, the Garibaldi Refuge can be available on weekdays as well, upon reservation.
