The CAI Morelli Buzzi Refuge is located in Valdieri, in the province of Cuneo. Built in 1931, it is the oldest refuge of the CAI in Cuneo. The operators, Paolo Giraudo and his brother Marco, have been woodworking artisans for 30 years in a small craft workshop in Valdieri. Great enthusiasts and knowledgeable of their mountains, they manage the refuge during the three summer months from June 15 to September 15, continuously every day. The Morelli Buzzi Refuge is located in front of the first buttress of the Argentera group, Monte Stella at 3261m. The structure faces west and in June and July enjoys spectacular sunsets with the sun shining until after 8:30 PM, almost always surrounded by ibex. Mules are used for supplies at this refuge. There has been no turning back in time; instead, the operators choose a more natural and sustainable direction for the environment.
