Hiking
From Prossenicco, trail 744 continues along a forest road, crossing the ford known as ‘della capra’, and shortly after, it passes in front of the border with Slovenia at Robedischis. With a gentle ascent, it reaches C.ra Zef and then, with a short descent, leads to the village of Montefosca. Outside the village, in the meadows, the ancient mule track, trail 735, descends, initially through the meadows and then into the broadleaf forest, bringing us to the banks of the Natisone River. A walkway allows us to reach the opposite bank and the village of Stupizza. Bus stop (only on weekdays, with routes towards Cividale). Pulfero Alberghi (3.4 km) is accessible solely via the SS54 state road. From the village of Stupizza to the sign indicating the locality, on the left (ENEL cabin), trail 725 begins and quickly climbs without difficulty, through beech and chestnut woods. We arrive at the beautiful church of St. Lorenzo, near the hamlets of Mersino Alto. We continue through the woods with alternating grassy areas until we reach Marsinska Planina, the area of the old herding huts of Matajur. Here, leaving trail 725, we take trail 750 which traverses the slopes of Matajur with ups and downs until we reach Rif. Pelizzo. The view is truly breathtaking, extending from Istria to the Venetian lagoons.
