A rather long stage with significant elevation change that runs at the foot of the majestic northern face of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo. From Lake Misurina, you follow the roadway for a stretch towards the Auronzo Hut before diverting onto a trail towards Monte Piana with its namesake hut. From here, a steep descent leads into the Vallon dei Castrati and Valle della Rienza, where you take the path that ascends to the Locatelli Hut, skirting the northern walls of Cima Ovest, Cima Grande, and Cima Piccola di Lavaredo. The hut is located a short distance from the Monte Paterno tunnel, another symbolic site from World War I.
