With this stage, the Sentiero Italia CAI now moves from the Latemar group to the Catinaccio group. It's quite a long stage that starts from Obereggen, first winding through the woods until reaching the stunning Lake Carezza, then ascending through meadows and pastures to the rubble fields beneath the Roda de Vael and Catinaccio, culminating at the Rifugio Fronza alle Cornelle. The route from Passo Carezza to the refuge offers breathtaking landscapes and views of Latemar, and, on the horizon, the Brenta, Ortles, and the mountains of Val Venosta. Anyone wishing to avoid the climb to Passo di Carezza at Rif. Paolina can take the Paolina chairlift, which saves quite a bit of elevation gain.
