Once again, this is a long stage with a significant elevation change that brings the Sentiero Italia down to the lower altitudes of Lake Como before ascending to the heights of Lario. From Piano del Tivano, one climbs to the scenic summit of Monte San Primo at 1681 meters above sea level, before descending sharply into the town of Bellagio, where the two branches of Lake Como diverge. This is followed by a boat ride across to Varenna. From there, the trail resumes into the woods leading to Esino Lario and subsequently to the village of Cainallo, where a small ski resort is located.
