This stage of the trail is undoubtedly the most scenic, as it runs along the long ridge of Granda-Scermendone, offering a superb view of the Orobic chain and the peaks of Val Masino. From the center of Filorera (787m), you ascend along the road that leads to the Predarossa plain. After about half an hour of walking, you leave the road, turning right and following the signs for the Alpe Granda refuge. Once past the refuge, you take the path to Scermendone: from here, you traverse the entire valley on a very scenic route until you reach Alpe Scermendone, where the namesake shelter is located (2150m).
