This medium-length stage with a significant elevation gain leads the Sentiero Italia along the northern slope of Monte Disgrazia, following a long arcing path that overlooks Valmalenco. Leaving Rifugio Bosio Galli, you reach Alpe Airale and proceed mostly on level ground until Alpe Mastabbia. From here, a gradual descent takes you to the upper hamlets of Chiesa Valmalenco, before starting a long and steep ascent to Passo Ventina at 2676 meters above sea level. Afterward, there is a steep and rather long descent that reaches the Ventina stream, then the refuge of the same name, and shortly after, Rifugio Gerli Porro.
