Hiking
A long stage of intermediate elevation descends from the imposing world of high altitudes back to the height of the pastures along the slopes above the high Valmalenco. From the Marinelli Bombardieri Refuge, we head towards what remains of the Vedretta di Caspoggio, the small glacier where we tread on some residual extensions to reach the Vedretta di Caspoggio, a pass at an altitude of 3000 meters from which we descend towards the artificial basin of Lake Alpe Gera, passing by the Roberto Bignami Refuge. From the lake, a gentle ascent begins along the bottom of the Valle Poschiavina, heading directly toward the Swiss border, following the path through the Passo d’Ur and the Pass da Cancian. Here, we re-enter entirely Italian territory, reaching the Passo di Campagneda from which we descend towards the Ca’ Runcasch Refuge, passing it to reach the Cristina Refuge.
