From the Salarno Valley, the path ascends on the right orographic side through rocky terrain and sparse pastures, quickly gaining altitude. Then, a long traverse through large rock blocks leads to the foot of Passo Miller, which is reached with a final steep climb. The descent begins into Val Miller, and after a brief section equipped with chains, the route continues along a wide path until reaching Lake Miller, near which lies the Gnutti refuge. From the refuge, the trail heads towards Passo del Gatto, with some ups and downs along the way (sections equipped with chains), on the southern slopes of Corno del Lago, after which the trail ascends into the basin of Baitone. Following the eastern shore of the eponymous artificial reservoir, the route rises to the plateau of the Tonolini refuge, located near Lake Rotondo.
