From the Berni hut, continue along the dirt road to the Gavia Pass (Bonetta hut). Here you join the Alta Via Camuna and climb to the Bocchetta del Corno dei Tre Signori, first on the trail, then on the moraine of the glacier covered with debris, and finally up a steep rocky slope equipped with chains. On the opposite side, you descend (chains only in the first section) to the Ercavallo lakes where you take the wide military mule track that cuts across the Val di Viso and leads to the hill where the ruins of the Great War and the Bozzi hut stand, near the small lake of Montozzo.

The connection between the Lombard SI and the Trentino one involves crossing the Montozzo pass and descending to Pejo (Trentino sector of the Stelvio National Park).
