Hiking
The first stage in the Piedmont region connects the two most important towns of the Alta Val Tanaro: Garessio and Ormea. The route initially takes you through the historic center of Garessio up to a roundabout just beyond the old Ceva-Ormea railway. Here, you turn left, and shortly after, take another left into a railway underpass. You then continue along the cycling and pedestrian path, which is paved in some sections and unpaved in others, running alongside the right bank of the Tanaro River, until reaching the village of Garei di Barchi. A pedestrian bridge made of grating leads to the left bank, where you proceed along the embankment of the railway until the second underpass. You then ascend onto the SS28 and reach the parking area of the village of Nasagò, where the trail begins, ascending towards the fraction of Eca. Near the church of San Giacomo, you intersect with the Balconata di Ormea. The route continues through the villages of Vacieu, Carià, Albra, Villaro, and Lunghi. Close to the houses of Airola, the trail begins, leading left and downhill towards Ormea.
