Hiking
A fairly long stage with intermediate elevation gain. Starting from the village of Ormea, the route ascends towards Rifugio Chionea. You proceed behind the notable large building in the square along the ancient path that once led to the hamlet of Chionea, crossing the carriage road five times. This is followed by a stretch on a slight incline that passes through several small villages until you reach Chioraira, where the route continues on a dirt road with wide bends leading to Stalle Colletto. From there, a path ascends along the slopes of Pizzo d’Ormea until reaching the church of San Giovanni Battista. The day's difficulties have ended. You pass the hamlet of Quarzina, home to the refuge of the same name, and then descend or continue on a level path to reach the village of Viozene, with dolomitic walls behind. From here, the final stretch of the path begins, ascending to Rifugio Mongioie in the Pian Rosso area.
