Hiking
With a short route but a significant elevation gain, you reach the bottom of the Stura di Demonte Valley near the town of Sambuco. However, first you need to climb to the 2472 meters of the Monte di Vaccia refuge, which involves an ascent of nearly 1000 meters of elevation. From the stop in the locality of Strepeis, you arrive in the hamlet of Besmorello where the real climb begins. It's a trail that gains altitude with a steep path and plenty of switchbacks. From the refuge, a long and steep descent leads to the intersection with the national road to the Colle della Maddalena and the town of Sambuco, where you find the Osteria della Pace, a historic stop along the GTA.
