The Sentiero Italia continues its path in Val Maira along the Occitan Routes in a region that is strongly oriented towards hiking. A short stage with a notable elevation gain leads to discovering the left hydrographic side of the valley as it climbs back up. From Bassura di Stroppo, you reach the main town and ascend through various hamlets until you reach Colle Bettone at an altitude of 1831 meters. The path continues level towards Colle Giovanni at 1850 meters before a gentle descent to the village of Elva. This is a small, very isolated municipality but rich in cultural tradition, linked to the presence of the Flemish painter Hans Clemer and the tradition of collecting and arranging hair destined for making wigs for ladies across Europe.
