This medium-length stage with a noticeable elevation gain takes you from the Province of Cuneo to the Province of Turin. The departure from the Quintino Sella Refuge involves a brief ascent followed by a long descent towards Pian del Re and the sources of the Po River. Along the way, you will encounter several beautiful mountain lakes while hiking with the imposing east and north faces of Monviso behind you. Upon reaching Pian del Re, you continue climbing through meadows and pastures on the southern slope until you reach Colle della Gianna, which separates the Po Valley from the nearby Pellice Valley, also marking the provincial boundary. From here, a long descent leads to the Barbara Lowrie Refuge, located near the hamlet of Grange del Pis.
