With this medium-length stage but significant elevation gain, we move from the Valli di Lanzo to the Valle dell’Orco. From the Pialpetta hamlet in the Val Grande di Lanzo, we tackle the uphill path that leads through the woods to the village of Rivotti, with several crossings of the access road. From here, we enter a high mountain territory characterized by coniferous forests, pastures, and alpine meadows up to the higher altitudes with heathland and rocky areas. From Lake Vercellino, the final steep ascent begins towards Colle della Crocetta (2641 m), from which a breathtaking panorama opens up over the southern slope of Gran Paradiso. On clear days, Lake Ceresole Reale is clearly visible 1000 meters below. All that remains is to descend along the well-marked trail. For accommodation, the Massimo Mila refuge is located on the western side of the lake.
