With a medium-length stage and elevation gain, the route leads towards the basin of the Dora Baltea, in the secluded Vallone di Scalaro on the border with Valle d’Aosta. From the Bruno Piazza refuge, you descend towards the village of Valchiusella, where at an altitude of 1010 m, you encounter trail 719 that ascends to Colle di Pian Spergiurati. The path climbs through the forest up to Alpe Lasas and then across pastures to Alpe Pinacrosa.
Before reaching Colle di Pian Spergiurati, you will pass by Alpe Chiaromonte and the Rifugio Chiaromonte. From the Colle at an altitude of 2036 m, a traverse north leads to the Scalaro basin, where you descend through pastures and alpine meadows, along paths that cut across the dirt road, until you reach the agriturismo Le Capanne where you will stay overnight.
