A rather short stage but with a significant elevation change connects Val Sermenza with the nearby Val d’Egua, still within the basin of the Sesia River tributaries. From Rima, you ascend via a steep and winding path to Colle del Termo, reaching an altitude of 2351 meters where you can still enjoy a stunning view of Monte Rosa. From here, a similarly steep descent begins towards the village of Carcoforo, which you reach after crossing a series of alpine pastures and hamlets. You find yourself in one of the Italian municipalities with the fewest residents, situated in an open and sunny location at the boundary between Rima, Fobello, and Macugnaga.
