SI E51

A medium-length stage with a moderate elevation change that leaves the tributary valleys of the Sesia River to move into the Val Strona, a tributary of Lake Orta. From Rimella, you follow an old mule track through meadows and woods towards the beautiful hamlet of San Gottardo, which you don't quite reach because you take the path on the left that climbs up towards the Bocchetta Rimella-Campello at 1924 meters above sea level. From here, a steep descent begins towards Val Strona, which, after crossing pastures, alpine huts, and woods, ends in the hamlet of Campello Monti at an altitude of 1300 meters.
