With a manageable distance and elevation gain, this hike explores the head of the Val Formazza and the Walser villages that make up the municipality of Formazza. In the first part, you ascend to the Nefelgiù Pass and then descend towards the Morasco dam, in an area notable for the large dams built in the 1930s and 1940s, along with the service roads. Once you descend into the valley, you can admire the impressive Toce Waterfall (if open) and the beautiful Walser houses in the hamlets of Formazza—Canza, Ponte, Valdo, and San Michele, while enjoying typical local products (cheeses, yogurt, ice cream, rye bread).
