A short stage with moderate elevation gain that leaves the valleys of Mont Blanc to overlook the Gran San Bernardo Valley. From the Bonatti Refuge, the path enters the Malatrà Valley, crossing several pastures and following a wide plateau before rising up to turn east along the steep slopes leading to the stunning Cal Malatrà at an altitude of 2925 meters. The route follows the Alta Via No. 1 of Valle d'Aosta, the hiking trail that traverses all the valleys on the northern side of the region. In particular, Col Malatrà is the last rise of the Tor des Geants, the mountain running race that links the two high routes of the Aosta Valley. From the pass, a short descent leads to the refuge.
