Another short stage characterized by a slight elevation gain heading west towards the slopes overlooking the Gulf of Genoa. From Barbagelata, the route continues westward beneath the summit of Monte Bocco, reaching the Sella della Giassina near Monte Carmo, along the road that descends into Val Trebbia. From the top of Carmo, one can enjoy a splendid view of Antola and, on clear days, the Pennine and Graian Alps. This path is part of the so-called Lombard salt route, which in ancient times connected Genoa with Pavia and the Po Valley.
