Another short stage above the town of Genova that connects Passo dei Giovi with its predecessor, Passo della Bocchetta, with minimal elevation gain. Moving away from the road, rail, and motorway infrastructure in an westward direction, you ascend towards what was the main crossing point between Genova and the Po Valley until the nineteenth century. Indeed, the Via Postumia, built in 148 BC, passed through here, as did the main route authorized by the Republic of Genova. Only from 1823, the year the Via dei Giovi was inaugurated, did this area lose its significance.
