With this short and moderately steep stage, the Sentiero Italia ascends to the summit of Monte Armetta, the highest peak of the Ligurian Prealps, although it is administratively located in Piedmont. From Colle San Bartolomeo, the trail climbs along the ridge to the top of Monte Armetta at 1739 meters above sea level. The view from the summit is expansive, overlooking the village of Ormea from the steep and rugged Piedmontese side, and the gentler southern slope leading into Liguria. A long section of descending ridge leads to Monte della Guardia and then through dense woods to Passo delle Prale, which connects the village of Caprauna with Ormea.
