Hiking
A long segment but characterized by a mild elevation change, featuring ups and downs, that traverses the valley floor of Val di Sangro all the way to Lake Barrea. From Pescasseroli, the route heads east through the hills, bypassing a section of the Strada Statale 83, which is reached later and followed for a stretch, passing the town of Opi before leaving the roadway again. The path returns to the road and runs along the Sangro River at the base of the southern slope of Monte Marsicano, continuing downstream until reaching the base of Monte Mattone. Here, the route leaves the state road once more, going around Villetta Barrea and arriving at the shores of Lake Barrea after crossing Civitella Alfedena. Following the southern side of the lake, you will arrive at the town of Barrea, at the eastern edge of the lake.
