Hiking
A rather short stage but with a significant elevation gain that traverses the heights between the city of Sulmona and the main massif of the Majella. From Roccacaramanico, the route ascends towards the summit of Monte Morrone, initially proceeding parallel to the valley formed by the Orto stream. Then the trail takes a steep slope with tight switchbacks through the forest and reaches the depression of Jaccio della Madonna before circling around Monte Morrone towards Colle della Croce at an altitude of 1901 meters. A short descent leads to the refuge for overnight accommodation.
