With a moderately long stretch and average elevation gain, the route leads into the heart of the Valle del Vomano. From Pietracamela, you first ascend along the course of the Arno stream before rising towards Colle dell’Asino in the direction of the Rifugio del Monte. From here, you reach the slopes of the now-abandoned Prato Selva ski area, which you descend until you reach the base of the lifts. With a wide 'S' shape through dense forests, you descend into a narrow and wild valley that leads down to the village of Nerito.
