The first stage in the Campania region also marks the entrance to the Cilento, Vallo di Diano, and Alburni National Park. With a moderately lengthy route and minimal elevation gain, it initially follows the road that outlines the park's border before moving onto a trail through the southernmost heights of the region, without ever exceeding 1000 meters in altitude. Crossing this area and the subsequent descent lead to Sanza, in the heart of the Vallo di Diano plain.
