With this stage, we enter the region known as Sannio due to the presence of the pre-Roman population of the Samnites. From Faicchio, we ascend the southern slopes of Monte Monaco di Gioia, then traverse to the western side until reaching the town of Gioia Sannitica. The rich history of these lands can be observed by visiting the ruins of the Norman castle that overlooks the village. The path continues to gain elevation, first reaching the area of Piana dell Pesche and shortly after the summit of Monte Sant'Angiolillo. The last few kilometers are downhill, crossing the picturesque Valle del Londro, to arrive at the community of San Potito Sannitico.
