From the center of the Municipality of San Severino Lucano, after reaching the beginning of the village along the city streets, you descend along the path that leads to the partially ruined Mulino Magnacane, situated by the Fiume Frido. Continuing on dirt roads and trails, you proceed to Bosco Magnano, passing by the recently restored Mulino Coronalonga, then near the confluence with the Torrente Peschiera, and on a brief stretch of the SP4. The terrain is mostly compacted. Bosco Magnano is one of the most well-known and frequented areas of the Parco del Pollino, featuring parking areas, a fountain, an Adventure Park, a hotel, and restaurants. Here, it is possible to split the long journey. From here, the Sentiero Italia follows the course of the Peschiera river until the locality of Dispensa (n. 940) among giant centuries-old beech and turkey oaks, with gentle slopes and a rarely muddy dirt path. At Dispensa, there is a water point (Fontana du Lacce) and a small equipped area with tables. The route continues easily to the locality of Perricchio through the woods, skirting the Deer Enclosure for a long stretch. From Perricchio to Masullo, the forest is quite sparse with prevalent turkey oaks. The trail begins to ascend again until it borders Mt. Nandiniello. The descent, especially in the last stretch, is quite steep and occasionally muddy. From Masullo to Latronico, the path mainly develops on dirt roads with a few sections on paved municipal roads. After crossing the Fiume Sinni on a beautiful concrete bridge and passing under the SS 653 Sinnica, you gather your strength for the final ascent that leads to the center of Latronico.
