You continue hiking at an altitude of about 1000 meters, through beech and pine forests, paths and dirt tracks. After a couple of kilometers from the Bosco di Trepitò, you arrive at the Villaggio Moleti, a fraction of the municipality of Ciminà, which is mainly inhabited during the summer months. After crossing the village, you head towards Passo Cancelo, skirting the asphalt road before entering the beech forest until you reach the Laghetto di Crocco, located near the Villaggio Zomaro in Cittanova. You continue by crossing a short stretch of asphalt and then follow the dirt road towards the Altipiano della Melia. Some sources report that between 72 and 71 B.C., this area was the site of a bloody battle between Spartacus's gladiators and the Roman legions of Marcus Licinius Crassus. You hike through forests of pine and fir until you reach Passo del Mercante, a junction on the ridge that connects the Serre with the Aspromonte. About two kilometers away is the village of Canolo Nuovo, where food and overnight stay options are available.
