Hiking
Leaving the ridge of the Apennines, the route transitions to hilly terrain that passes through towns and countryside, primarily on roads. Starting from Girifalco, with its artistic churches and historically interesting monuments, the journey continues to Caraffa di Catanzaro, where a dialect of Albanian origin is still spoken, a remnant of the ancient migrations from Albania in the 18th century. Additionally, on clear days, the two seas can be seen from the heights of the village. The route continues to the area of Campo di Settingiano, Martelletto, and Settingiano, a village with elegant buildings where apotropaic masks can be observed on the doorframes. The ascent continues to conclude the stage in Tiriolo, an intriguing village with historic palaces and a castle, offering a breathtaking panorama of the two seas, Ionian and Tyrrhenian, the Aeolian Islands, and Mount Etna.
