With a moderately long stage and elevation gain, this hike crosses the stunning protected area of the Zingaro Nature Reserve before returning to the sea at Scopello. From Macari, the trail leads inland along a steep path that ascends to over 600 meters above sea level, starting the descent towards the marvelous bays of the Zingaro Reserve. You will reach the coast between Cala dell’Uzzo and Cala Marinella, where you will join the coastal path that leads to Scopello. The Zingaro Nature Reserve was established in 1981 following a public protest that successfully halted the construction of a road that would have forever damaged this unspoiled landscape.
