With a medium-length stage and minimal elevation gain, we head east towards the Metropolitan City of Palermo through the Sicilian interior. From Segesta, we follow the provincial road downhill for a long stretch, running parallel to the highway. Near the Terme Segestane, a gentle uphill section begins, leading to the town of Alcamo. This city has ancient historical roots, already noted during the time of Roger II, who experienced the peak of prosperity during the Middle Ages.
