With this medium-length stage and a predominantly downhill elevation, the Sentiero Italia proceeds eastward, separating from a variant that descends south to circumnavigate Etna. The route starts from the town of Floresta along the highway to Randazzo, which is soon abandoned along a ridge characterized by numerous wind turbines. A long stretch unfolds in the presence of these large blades, passing at the foot of Monte Polverello. Here, still descending, it reaches the summit of Monti Taffuri and continues downwards until the Elicona stream, which is separated from the town of Montalbano Elicona by a short ascent.
