Hiking
The stage is long but characterized by little elevation gain, departing from the Nebrodi Mountains and approaching the Peloritani Mountains, which will define the last Sicilian stages before arriving in Messina. From Montalbano Elicona, the route heads southeast, towards the northern slope of Mount Etna. Near the summit of Monte Cerreto, the path makes a sharp turn northeast along the ridge with wind turbines until reaching Monte Paulera. Finally, heading north, it passes by Monte Croce and Monte Calderone, descending to the village of San Basilio and further down to the Novara Stream, separated from the charming village of the same name by a short climb.
