The penultimate stage in Sicilian territory is of medium length and features a slight elevation gain, characterized by numerous ups and downs along the ridge of the Monti Peloritani. Starting from Piano Margi, the trail continues along the Peloritani ridge, always keeping to the northwestern slope until surpassing Pizzo Cavallo, where it shifts to the Ionian slope with a sheer drop to the coast below. From the pass of Portella dell'Orso, one ascends to the Rifugio San Calogero just below 1000 meters, then continues to touch the summit of Puntale Bandiera before a short descent to Rifugio Case Maressa for the overnight stay.
